08/08: The Classification of Tea Fields in Xishuangbanna

Also from Douji's website, we captured these photos for the classification of various tea fields, existing today in Xishuangbanna.

1. Wild Grown Arbor
At least 200-300 years old, some even up to 600-700 years old, no chemicals ever applied.

In some area, e.g. Yiwu, Mahei, the wild grown arbor tea trees were trimmed (legend has it that ever since a high ranking officer fall down and broke a leg in 70s last century during his inspection trip, and he commanded that all tea trees should be trimmed!)

2. Eco Tea Garden
More than a few decades old, little human intervention, almost no/little chemicals applied.

3. Traditional Tea Garden
Roughly 20-30 years old, on a lower altitude, occasionally with some chemicals applied.

Less than 20 years old for massive production, with some chemicals applied on a yearly basis.
